If you accidentally deleted your swap partition then don't worry you can easily restore it by following these steps:

First of all, open GParted and find the hard drive you want to create the swap partition. From the file menu press Gparted-->Devices-->[The hard drive you want].

Once you pick your hard drive, you will either have to resize a partition or use an unallocated space from that drive to create your swap partition.

To resize a partition, make sure the partition is not current in use (if it does you will need to use a Live CD) and then right click and select Resize Partition. Pick the size you want to remove (preferably leave the empty space to the end of the selected partition)

Once you have an unallocated space (Usually 2-4GB are enough), right click that space and select "New". From the new partition dialog make sure to select the filesystem as "linux-swap", then pick the size you want and at last press the button "Add".

The last step to create the swap partition is to apply all the changes you made so far by going to Edit-->Apply All Operations (this might take a while depending on your system and changes).

Now that you have a swap partition ready, you need to activate it. To do that right click on it and select "Swap on".

Unless you removed the swap partition entry from fstab, it should still be in /etc/fstab. Check from the terminal with:

$ grep swap.*sw /etc/fstab

 	and you should see a long line like:

UUID=adc15cab-1cd4-4278-9a1d-59016cced6dd none swap sw  0  0

    If you do not see such a line, obtain the UUID using

$ sudo blkid | grep swap

and then add a line in this format to /etc/fstab.

They are essentially a server you send email to and that broadcasts the email on to a load of subscribers. This simple model has a few functions:

Few to many/announcements. It's common that a release mailing list will have a few people who can broadcast email about updates and releases. People who need to know about these subscribe.

Devel/discussion. These are more like a forum where developers are free to table and talk over development topics.

Support. Identical in method to a discussion list but set aside for users to ask support questions, like here.

How you use them is largely up to you. You can read Ubuntu's without anything more than a browser as they are all publicly archived. If you want to subscribe (so that new messages are delivered into your inbox) you can from the list's listinfo page.

If you want to be able to post, most lists will require that you subscribe first. For some subjects this also requires that a moderator authorises you to send email. But sending the messages after that point is no harder than sending an email to the list's email address.

There are few possible reasons for this error and one if them (which is the one i encountered) is when you symlink the .PlayOnLinux folder to a NTFS partition. So its a file system issue (Wine is suggesting to not use fuse file-system).

To bypass this error you need to open the PlayOnLinux console. To do that open the terminal and type:

$ playonlinux-shell

And then execute this command on the PlayOnLinux console:

POL_Config_Write NO_FSCHECK TRUE

Note that after toggling this behavior the team from PlayOnLinux won't support you anymore. So use it only if you have a good reasons for enabling NO_FSCHECK.

Valve just announced in their Linux blog that the beta testings are coming soon! I'm saying beta testings because there will be an internal beta testing (which i assume is for the Valve's team to test) and then an external beta test (which is the one we all will have to chance to be chosen to participate) and its going to happen somewhere in October.

The beta will only include the steam client with one Valve Game and support for Ubuntu 12.04 and above. There will soon be an external beta sign up page where you can write your application to get the chance to be one of the first people to ever use a native steam client made for Linux.

Things have been going well. We will be having an internal beta starting next week, and a private external beta for 1,000 users sometime in October.

The private external beta will include:

Steam

One Valve game

Support for Ubuntu 12.04 and above

It will not yet include:

Big Picture mode

Additional Valve games

For existing Linux users, the external private beta is a good release for seeing where we are in running our games on Linux. We will be using a sign up page for the external beta. Information about the sign up will be announced in a future post.

For those new to Linux, we recommend waiting for a subsequent release where more features are implemented along with improvements to the user install experience.
